The Korean War begins
On 25 June 1950, North Korean troops crossed the 38th parallel and invaded South Korea, opening three years of war.
The UN deployed a US-led force. The conflict ended with the 1953 armistice, without a peace treaty, along a nearly unchanged border.

The Battle of the Little Bighorn
On 25 June 1876 in Montana, Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse's Lakota and Cheyenne destroyed part of Lieutenant Colonel Custer's 7th Cavalry.
Known as 'Custer's Last Stand', this U.S. defeat was the greatest victory of the Plains nations, who were nonetheless subdued soon after.

Presentation of the Augsburg Confession
On 25 June 1530, before the Diet of Augsburg and Emperor Charles V, Philip Melanchthon presented the Augsburg Confession, the founding text of Lutheranism.
Drafted without the outlawed Luther, its 28 articles set out the faith of the Lutheran princes. It remains a reference for the Lutheran churches.
